Jerry Routson harvests his fine crop of D'Anjou pears. He has a large crew of men working in various parts of the orchard. Full boxes of pears were scattered throughout the orchard waiting to be hauled to packing sheds.

One of the Big Vats is being filled with Royal Ann cherries to be made into the marichino. These vats are filled with an acid bleach. Boys dump the boxes as they come from the conveyors, while another stirs, since they have a tendency to come to the top. This is only one vat that extends in long rows to the left of the picture. Janette Saucy rigs up a clever way to feed her motherless registered Duroc pigs. Beer bottles have been filled with warm milk and placed on a specially constructed trough. The pigs are doing fine at Saucy farm, Salem, Oregon.
