This hand-colored black-and-white photograph depicts a landscape scene of a geologic irregularity on the plains. A string of mountains sit in the distance underneath a blue sky with large, white clouds., Warpinski; Erratic (Lava Dome Hwy 447 Nevada); U of O Science Complex, Terri Warpinski has been a professor of art at the University of Oregon since 1984, where she also served in administrative positions such as Vice Provost of Academic Affairs and Community Engagement. Warpinski's images reflect her reverence for the Western Landscape and her interest in the traces of human connection with this landscape. Warpinski invests her images with a strong belief in the environmental movement: "Art, literature and Theater can gather people around an issue in an uplifting way. It's not being irresponsible or ignoring the seriousness of things. Neither is it preaching to the converted. In my experience art can reach the spirit of people in a deeper way than a purely analytical approach..." This impressionistic painting presents a large, dark rock against a deep blue, tumultuous sky., Cie Goulet; North Rock; monotype; 30 x 40 inches; U of O Science Complex, Cie Goulet is well known for her energetic paintings of the Oregon landscape. Her dramatic color and light is further enhanced by the use of black as a base color (monotypes on black paper). Cie Goulet attended San Francisco Art Institute, Parsons School of Design and graduated from the University of Oregon in 1965, where she studied under the late Jack Wilkinson. In the last twenty years the artist has exhibited in various areas of the U.S. including: Tamasulo Gallery, Cranford, NJ; Louis Meisel Gallery, NY; Artists Space, NY as well as one person exhibitions at Lynn McAllister Gallery, Seattle, WA; Salishan Lodge, Gen Eden, OR; River Run Gallery, Ketchum, ID and the Laura Russo Gallery, Portland, OR. Cie Goulet exhibited her work in the exhibition "First Impressions: Northwest Monotypes" at the Seattle Art Museum, WA which then traveled to the Marylhurst College, Art Gym Gallery. This fountain consists of a concrete stair that holds several large boulders. The water cascades down the stairs, around the boulders, and fills a small pool at the bottom., Alice Wingwall; Cascade Charley; A Water Contemplation Space, Alice Wingwall is a blind artist. She suffers from retinitis pigmentosa, a hereditary degenerative disease of the eye. She relies to a great deal on her other senses in envisioning her art, and designed the fountain in the courtyard by the sounds water makes when falling on rocks. Wingwall earned an M.F.A. in sculpture from UC Berkeley and was a professor of sculpture and director of the studio arts program at Wellesley College. She has explored many different mediums, and she trained in stained-glass fabrication in Paris.
