Carl graduated from Oregon State with an engineering degree in 1938. He was the Marine Corps' first ace in WWII, credited with 18.5 kills in the Pacific theater. He also served in Vietnam and as a record-setting test pilot. The photo is inscribed "To my old friend -- John."
There are about 24 plants, roughly half are German. The traditional varieties are useless. 2 maybe 3 oz. per plant. Mt Hood and Perie seem to perform well. If you can get ahold of some of the new releases - a few rhizomes this spring would be great.
OSU's marching band accompanied the football team to Los Angeles for the 1965 Rose Bowl. One of the band's activities was marching in this parade in Disneyland.
