Moore coached the gymnastics team from 1967 to 1975. She came to OSU as a faculty member in physical education in 1966. She served as director of women’s athletics from 1975-1977 and 1980-1982. After the men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletics programs merged, Moore served as deputy athletic director from 1983 to 1985. When Dee Andros stepped down as athletic director in 1985, Moore was named interim director of intercollegiate athletics – the first woman to have held that post at OSU.
John Vincent Byrne assumed the presidency in November 1984 and served as OSU's twelfth president for eleven years until the end of 1995. Byrne began teaching at Oregon State University in 1960, and his career at the university spanned thirty-five years. He was an early leader of the OSU Sea Grant program and was the director of the Marine Science Center.
This cabin in McDonald Forest outside of Corvallis was built by "his boys" for George W. Peavy in 1935. It was his retreat both during his years as President of Oregon State College and his retirement.
An internationally respected scientist, educator, and administrator, James Herbert Jensen served as Oregon State University's tenth president from 1961 until 1969. During his tenure, Jensen helped expand scientific research at OSU as well as degree programs in the liberal arts.
August LeRoy Strand was appointed as the ninth president of Oregon State College in the fall of 1942 and led the college through both World War II as well as the post-war period of extensive growth in students and facilities that followed.
