- Hand tinted image. Otaue shinji (rice planting rites) in Sumiyoshi taisha in Osaka. The rites are an annual event in June.A Japanese woman dressed in ceremonial dress takes part in the festival. The womanl wears a large decorative hat, ceremonial costume and holds a fan. A group of men holding umbrellas with long handles stand behind the woman. The men wear pointed hats and loose white ceremonial garments. Pine trees are visible in the background.
