- Hand tinted image. Two men in a lush landscape stand before a giant stone sculpture, identified as a jizo, that sits inside a niche carved out of the side of a mountain. The man in the foreground walks up a stone staircase toward the jizo. A man crouches in front of this large stone sculpture. The jizo consists of a seated individual whose head is surrounded by a circular form, like a halo.
