- Hand tinted image. Four Japanese and Ainu children pose in the natural landscape. All the children are wearing robe-like garments. The child in the foreground of the image carries a toddler on his back. The other two children are transporting something in a cotton, or burlap bag. These bags have an attached strap that is wrapped around two of the children's heads. A large fallen tree trunk lies on the ground behind the children.
