Seven of the men are Native American; one is white. All have been identified as members of the Indian Police Umatilla Agency in 1888. All wear European-American clothing and shoes: felt hats, cloth shirts, jackets, trousers, and coats. Behind the man identified as Wike-Wike is a small dark-and light patterned dog.
