A Native American man, identified as Parson Motanic, is standing outside. He is wearing a horned headdress with eagle feathers, a necklace, a vest, and moccasins. He is holding a hatchet in his hands. Various furs and blanket strips are laid out around and behind Parson Motanic. All of the items depicted are the property of the Motanic family, rather than photographer's props.

An outside photograph of a man dressed in his regalia standing next to a house. He has been identified as Parson Motanic. He is wearing a horned headdress with a single trail of Eagle feathers down his back. He is wearing a cloth shirt, beaded vest, Hairbone bandoleer which he is wearing to the front. He has fur wraps on his hair, buckskin leggings, and a blanket hider with a floral design. He is standing on a blanket with a hide of some kind behind him, next to the hide is a brass tack side drop. In front of his feet is a wool shirt and an unidentified object. Behind him hanging on the wall of the side of the house is a blanket. On top of the blanket, starting left to right, are a beaded saddle drop, martingale, scabbard, Rifle, beaded martingale, Bonnet Tube and a beaded pipe bag. Writing on the photograph is "Parson Motanic Cayuse Tribe Maj. Moorhouse" which is written on the blanket being used as a back drop behind his knees.
