- Description
- A Native American woman, identified as Ruth Coyote of the Cayuse tribe, stands smiling, supporting a cradleboard on her right. She is wrapped in a long striped shawl. Her hair is braided. An infant is laced up to its neck in the cradleboard. Its head is supported by a padded headrest decorated with geometric designs. The top of the cradleboard is decorated with beads and a floral applique.

- An outside photograph of a young woman dressed in her regalia holding a child in a beaded cradleboard. She has been identified as Ruth Coyote and the child is unidentified. She is wearing a wing dress with a shawl over her shoulders. She is holding the child in the floral beaded cradleboard on her left side. The child appears to be asleep in the cradleboard; the woman e is holding it up with both of her hands. In the background is a blanket that is being used for a backdrop that is tacked down on to a wooden frame. Writing on the photograph is on the shawl of the young woman "Ruth Coyote and Papoose Cayuse Tribe Maj. Moorhouse" under this one is "Ruth Coyote" and the last one is at the bottom middle of the photograph "Moorhouse".
