Description
A Native American girl, identified as Petints of the Walla Walla tribe, is standing in front of a blanket. She is wearing a Euro-American style dress, plain moccasins, and a bracelet. Her hair is tied in braids tucked behind her ears.
Tribal Notes
An outside photograph of a young girl standing next to a Tule mat/canvas tipi. She is wearing Euro-American dress with plain moccasins on. She is facing the camera with her head tilted down just a little and her left hand is hiding behind her body. Just behind her on the Tule mat/ canvas tipi is a blanket that is stretched out; there are seven black and white stripes. On the tipi there are a total of ten poles on the outside of the tipi to keep the mats down. There is a part of a ladder in the top left corner of the photograph. Writing on the photograph is "Petints, Walla Walla Tribe" which is on the bottom of the blanket and on her right side. On the other side of her is the words "Maj. Moorhouse".
