- Description
-
Railroad tracks run in front of a wooded area identified as being near Cayuse Station, Thorn Hollow. Fences run along the railroad tracks and stop on either side of a railroad crossing. The crossing is left of center and has a white sign beside it. There are three tipis among the trees. On the right side of the photo is a wooden building. In between the right most tipi and the wooden building is a cage raised up off the ground on legs and another undetermined object on the ground. On the right half of the photo between the tipis and the railroad tracks is a cultivated area that could be a garden. Behind the tipis among the trees is a stream or river, and in the background are hills. The trees are both deciduous without leaves and conifers.

- Tribal Notes
-
An outside photograph of a campsite next to the railroad tracks. There is a road across the tracks with a sign at the crossing. In the middle of the photograph is a set of railroad tracks and across the tracks in the mixed trees of Cottonwood and Pine trees is a camp site. There are three tipis. The first is next to two Pine trees. It is made of Tule mats that are four layers high. There is a smaller tipi that is hidden in the brush. In front of the smaller one is a canvas and Tule Mat tipi; the Tules look to be four layers high. Between the two tipis and the railroad tracks is a field of corn. In front of the tipi are a wagon and an arbor. On the far right of the photograph is a barn. Between the barn and the tracks is a garden. Behind the campsite is a row of Cottonwood and Pine trees. The Umatilla River is in the background of the campsite against the base of the hillside. The canyon on the left side of the photograph is called Thorn Hollow Grade. Writing on the photograph is "Umatilla Reservation near Thorn Hollow Maj. Moorhouse."
