James W. Gillett (left) was a Research Associate in Agricultural Chemistry at Oregon State University and Research Environmental Scientist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from 1964-1984. Roy A. Young (right) became assistant professor of Plant Pathology in 1948. Young was head of the Botany and Plant Pathology department from 1958-1966. Young served for a short term as acting president from 1969-1970. He also served as Vice President of Research and Graduate Studies through 1977.
Wood (left). Edward J. Slezak (second from left) was a Professor of Physical Education and Recreation Resource Management at Oregon State from 1961-1979. Sodthomsit (second from right) completed a Master of Arts at Oregon State University. Robert W. Henderson (right) received a B.S. in Agronomy in 1938. Henderson served as Assistant Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station and a Farm Crops faculty member from 1946-1976.
Dr. William R. Furtick (second from left) was a Professor of Agronomy from 1949-1975. Virgil H. Freed was a Professor of Agricultural Economy from 1943-1978.

George S. Beaudreau (left) completed a Master of Science and PhD. at Oregon State College in 1951 and 1954, respectively. He was a Professor of Chemistry at Oregon State from 1963-1990. Anne O'Connell Deeney (second from left) completed a Master of Science and PhD. at Oregon State in 1959 and 1963, respectively. She was a Research Associate in Agricultural Chemistry and Veterinary Medicine from 1964-1990.
Ralph S. Besse was a farm management Extension specialist from 1922-1932, then served as Assistant Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station from 1932-1949. From 1949-1953, Besse was Associate Director of the Experiment Station.
Coming to OSU in 1961, Harold J. Evans held professorships in plant physiology and biochemistry until his retirement in 1988. Specializing in the study of nitrogen fixation, Evans also served as Director of the Laboratory for Nitrogen Fixation Research. In 1965 he was co-winner of the Hoblitzelle National Award for discovering role of cobalt in nitrogen fixation by leguminous plants.

Walt Mellenthin (left) was superintendent of Mid-Columbia Agricultural Experiment Station from 1952-1983. G. Burton Wood was Director of the OSU Agricultural Experiment Station from 1966-1975. Previous to this, he was head of the Department of Agricultural Economics from 1951-1966. John R. Davis (right) was a Professor and Dean of Agricultural Engineering, Associate Director of Athletics, Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station, and Provost for Calendar Conversion at OSU from 1971-1990.
Roy G. Arnold (left) was the Dean of Agricultural Sciences, Provost and Executive Vice President of OSU. Wilson H. Foote (right) was a Professor of Agronomy and Associate Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station from 1948-1985.
Warren Hovland (1918-2015) (right) was a Professor of Philosophy and Religion from 1949 to 1986, chairing the department for virtually his entire career. Hovland Hall is named in his honor. Robert W. MacVicar (seated, right) was president of Oregon State University from 1970-1986.
Willis Arden Sheets (left) was a Senior Instructor in Horticulture at the North Willamette Experiment Station and later Washington County Extension Agent and Chairman from 1959-1992. Wilson H. Foote (right) was a Professor of Agronomy and Associate Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station from 1948-1985.
James E. Oldfield received a Ph.D. in Animal Science from Oregon State University in 1951. Oldfield served as the head of the Animal Science Department from 1967-1983.
