Wilbur Paul Breese completed a Bachelor of Science at Oregon State College in 1951 and a Master of Science in 1953. He was a Professor of Fisheries from 1953-1983.
A pioneer in Oregon oceanography, Wayne Burt was the first director of what is now OSU's Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. He is recognized as the founder of OSU's oceanography program.
Dr. Paul R. Ellicker (left) was a Professor of Bacteriology from 1947-1976. He was chair of the department from 1952-1976. Dr. Lyle D. Calvin (center) was a Professor of Statistics and later Dean of the Graduate School from 1953-1988. Dr. Emery Neal Castle (right) was a Professor of Agricultural Economics from 1957-1976. He returned to OSU from 1986-1992 to serve as chair of the University Graduate Faculty of Economics. From 1992 to 1994, Castle chaired the Extended Education Transition Committee.

In 1983 the Center was renamed the Mark O. Hatfield Marine Science Center in honor of U.S. Senator Mark Hatfield of Oregon, an early supporter of the Center.
William Wick studied fish and game management at Oregon State College and received both B.S. and M.S. degrees in 1950 and 1952, respectively. First employed by OSU in 1960 as an Extension Service Agent for Tillamook County until 1968. In 1968, Wick assumed the post of Program Leader of the Sea Grant Marine Advisory Program and a year later became coordinator of the regional Pacific Sea Grant Advisory Program. For his efforts in the Marine Advisory Programs, Wick received the U.S. Department of Agriculture Superior Award in 1971. In 1973, Wick became Director of the OSU Sea Grant Program. Wick retired as Sea Grant Director on December 31, 1990.
G. Burton Wood (middle) served as Director of the OSU Agricultural Experiment Station from 1966 until his retirement in 1975. Previous to this, he served as head of the Department of Agricultural Economics from 1951 until 1966. Wood earned a BS degree from the University of Oregon, an MS from Oregon State College, and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin.

Robert Warren Jacobson completed a Bachelor of Science at Oregon State University in 1963. He was a Marine Extension Agent and Lincoln County Extension Agent from 1967-1996.
