- I often think of how differently we must perceive our world, compared to people of times past. In this age of instant verbal and visual communication we are literally, almost physically, in touch with places only dreamed of before. Armchair Journeys uses imagery evoking lunar and martian environments. While painting it I thought of how much we all ""travel"" these days, whether we leave our living rooms or not. (Gray, 1990)
