Near the right hand side of the tipi there is a mound covered by a blanket with a pot or basket near by. The Native American male is wearing a cowboy hat and boots with a blanket overcovering. In the far background to the left of the photo are hills and telegraph or telephone poles.

Description: Rev. James N. Cornelison sits in the doorway of a house. He sits at ease petting a large spotted dog. He is dressed in a suit with open jacket, vest, fold-down collar, and plaid bow tie, and appears to be wearing cowboy boots. He has a mustache and short beard. His legs are crossed and partially obscured by a plaid blanket, half of which lies in a heap at his feet. Next to it on the Reverend's right is a small pile of kindling and a chopped log. Behind him in the interior of the dwelling stands a table with turned legs, on which are piled a number of books. A cord or rope lies on the ground next to the dog.

The horse or pony has a spotted coat; it is bareback with what appears to be a leather halter. The dog is between the horse and man. It also has a mottled or spotted coat, with uncropped ears and unknown breed heritage. The tipi is made of canvas layers. There is a cloth or canvas doorway directly behind the man; on the back of the tipi leans a broken tule mat. There are small wooden poles and various pieces of wood also leaning against the tipi's exterior. In the background are bushes and deciduous trees, perhaps cottonwood trees, leading to the hillside.
