About 1922-1925, Newsreel camera crew came up to Celilo to film, ""The Life of the Salmon"". They stayed at John Stiles place, ""Stiles-On-The-Deschutes"". John had a retriever who would go out and retrieve John's hooked salmon. The crew thought this was great, as it showed that even a dog could catch salmon in the Columbia River. Of course, the dog would not retrieve in Celilo Falls! He was too smart for that!
