Gene Tanselli is at bat in the photo with John Thomas catching. The varsity and rook teams began preseason training in the Armory by late February, using a net as a batting cage. Tanselli played for Oregon State College in 1949-1951 and coached 1967-1972. Photo was used in the 1951 Beaver Yearbook, page 204.
