Description
This $10,000 award is given every five years to the person who has made the most significant contribution to U.S. agriculture. Kronstad (1932-2000) came to Oregon State in 1959 as a doctoral student and remained as an instructor after completing his Ph.D. in 1963. He ultimately lead the Wheat Breeding Project, which developed many new varieties of wheat.

Wes Schulmerich was the Beavers' first player to make it to the Major League level. Schulmerich was born on Wednesday, August 21, 1901, in Hillsboro, Oregon. He was 29 years old when he played his first big league game on May 1, 1931, with the Boston Braves. Description
Douglas Engelbart is pictured accepting the E.B. Lemon Award during an OSU Alumni Association meeting in 1987. He was also honored as part of a computing and philosophy conference at OSU. Engelbart graduated in 1948 in electrical engineering and he went on to work for NASA and the Stanford Research Institute, where he helped to develop key computer technologies and applications in use today. The computer mouse was one of his accomplishments.

John V. Byrne came to Oregon State University as an Associate Professor of Marine Geology in 1961, becoming the Chairman of the Oceanography Department in 1968. Byrne was the OSU president from 1984-1995.
