Research trip to Beijing, Kunming, and Dali. Conducted fieldwork in Yunnan. Focus was on the Rao San Ling festival and the Bai ethnic group. During the trip the team visited the old town of Li Jiang, and several villiages in the Erhai Basin, including Longxiadeng. The Rao San Ling festival took place during the last three days at three different temples: Sheng Yuan, Er He Ci, and Hu Guo Ci. The Men's Community Orchestra performance at Er He Ci was documented on the second day of the festival. May 6th and 7th were spent in Beijing. The team travelled to Kunming on May 8th, and gave a presentation at Yunnan University on the 9th. There was a walking tour and museum visit on the morning of May 10th, followed by a 6.5 hour bus ride to Dali the second half of the day. May 11th was spent in Lijiang. May 12th was spent in Rao San Ling for preparations in the early morning. Three Pagodas Temple was visited in the afternoon, and Long Xia Dong village was visited in the evening. May 13, 14 and 15 were spent documenting the Rao Sang Ling festival.

Visits to Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Normal University, the Xarmuren Grasslands, Baotou, Ordos, the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan, Xilinhot, East Ujimqin, and the Bayan Oboo festival. Artists and locals who were visited included Sarin, a traditional Mongolian tailor, and Colmon, a local scholar and Mongolian calligrapher."
