In 1894, a wooden school building was moved to Bluff St. (today's 12th St.) from Union St. and named East Hill School. A more solid structure was built a few years later. The name was changed to Joseph G. Wilson Elementary School in 1925. A primary wing was added in 1951. The first public kindergarten in The Dalles was established in 1974 and a kindergarten wing was added in 1988. Joseph G. Wilson was closed as a K-6 school in 1995
