Description: Dr. A. L. Strand with a Voyager 150 plane which he was learning to fly. August LeRoy Strand served as president of Oregon State University from 1942-1961. Strand helped create the Oregon State College Foundation in 1947 and introduced the idea of an OSU golf course.

Description: The road behind the hangers is Grant Street. The field was bordered on the east side by a dirt road which is now NW Highland Ave. The field was operated by Albert Parmenter and Dick Lyndon. The Field was abandoned in 1930 when Parmenter moved to Eugene. Lyndon started another airport on S 3rd Street at what is now Goodnight Ave. The airplane on the right is a 1929 Swallow owned by Joe Chamberlin, Slats Gill, and Roy Getz. The middle plane is a 1929 American Eagle. The plane in the foreground is a 1925 WACO "9" powered by a 90 H.P. OX-5 engine.

Description: Described by his flight instructor as an apt pupil, President Strand took his first solo flight on September 19th, 1947, 29 years to the day after his first solo flight as a US Navy sea plan pilot during World War I. Dressed for the office, Strand went to the Corvallis Airport regularly for an hour or so of early morning flying in a 150-horsepower enclosed 4-passenger Stinson Voyager.

Description: Lyndon Airfield was located about 1 mile north of the present Corvallis Municipal Airport, west of Highway 99 W on Herbert Ave. It was operated by Dick Lyndon (Lyndon Airways). It was abandoned in 1942. The aircraft at the right of flight line is a Fairchild 24. The airplane second from the left is a Rearwing Sportster. Next to the last plane is a 1936 Alexander Eaglerock.
