The Heilig Theater, designed by Edwin W. Houghton, opened on July 22, 1910. It was initially used as an opera house. In 1929, Paramount started leasing the theater for feature films. In 1931, the J. J. Parker group leased the building and renamed it the Mayfair which closed in 1953. After renovations by architects Luther and Dougan, the theater became the Fox Theater in 1954. It was demolished in 1990. Fox Tower now occupies the block.
