Images were painted directly on guidebook pages, then offset printed and accordian bound on sides by hand. Issued in envelope, with small photograph of Paris mounted on front.
The only text on this book is on the back cover ajacent to the colophon: "No one yet hath/ unravelled/ a knot from the skin/ of the universie,/ And each who came/ and essayed the same/ but made the tangle/ worse." -- Anonymous Persian. The cover and pages are printed with images of near or middle eastern tribal rugs, and are larger than the tunnel which cuts through the centers of these framing pages. The interior of the tunnel is printed in cyan with images of our gallaxy along the side walls and an image of the planet Earth at the back. The exteriors of the side walls are also printed with photographs of landscapes. Issued in a plastic box with foam-core spacer., Signed by the artist
Tunnel book, featuring pictorial work, in center of three panels. On the left and right panels is printed the text of William Stafford's poem, "A Ritual to Read to Each Other" on black paper in gold ink. The outer portfolio structure of the book is board, bound in book cloth. A small portion of the print from the tunnel book on the interior illustrates the exterior of the book in an inset in the cover.
This three "page" tunnel book uses abstract images on removable panels to create different views. The book is constructed with red paper and silver-painted spacers to create room for the removable panels. A purple ribbon tie contains the book.
