Students, such as those pictured here, were required to do fieldwork and collect insects for dissection and mounting. Entomology has been taught at Oregon State since 1873. It was organized as a department with zoology in 1889. It became a separate department in 1914. A. B. Cordley, for whom Cordley Hall is named, taught entomology in 1895.
