"Bassenthwaite is the farthest north of the lakes of this region. It is four miles long and three-quarters of a mile in width, but, if one has visited the other lakes first, the scenery is said to be 'rather tame.' Yet, judging from this picture, there is much of interest to anyone who loves the combination of mountains and water."
