Mike (Mickey) Riley, son of Jack Riley, played second base for the Beavers from 1980-1983. He hit over .300 for the 1982 season and came close to the school record with an 18 game hitting streak--4 less than the mark set by All-American Pete Rowe. OSU has played a number of games over the years against local professional nines. The most frequent of these opponents were the Salem Senators, against whom the Beavers posted a6-10 mark between 1924 and 1955. In 1983, OSU won it's only contest with the Portland Beavers. It also played and lost games againstthe Eugene Emeralds in 1957 and 1959.They also lost to the Portland Colts in 1913, which was a farm team of the Portland Beavers.
