Osaka is a great commercial and industrial center and is one of the sixty harbors in Japan open to foreign trade. Although great quantities of goods pass through this harbor, its neighboring city, Kobe, has a better harbor and excels as a seaport. In recent years Osaka has extended its corporate limits and the "Greater" Osaka now has a population of 2,132,600.
