"The Black Bag" was an anonymous OSU student who attended class attired in a plain black garment, attracting significant media attention in the process. The class shown in this photo is Speech 113, taught by Charles Goetzinger.
This meet, against the University of Oregon, was the first to be run on a new course at Corvallis’ Avery Park. Although the UO edged out OSU on this occasion, the Beavers went on to a tie for sixth place at the NCAA Championships.
Dee Andros (the Great Pumpkin) leading the football team onto the field before the Homecoming game against Idaho. Dee Andros was the Oregon State Head Coach for football from 1965-1975, and Athletic Director from 1975-1985. In 1967, Andros lead the team through two victories and one tie against the top three teams: USC, Purdue, and UCLA, making OSU's team "The Giant Killers".
