Eight Native-American men and women on horses are posing in front of trees and tipis. All but two have some sort of headdress, three men carry feather staffs. All the people have blankets wrapped around them. Each horse is wearing a beaded chest plate.

An outside photograph of men and women dressed in their regalia on horses. They are all standing in two rows. The first row is all men there are eight of them and they are wearing bonnets plains style, Stove pipe, Horned head dress. They all have a wool blanket over their shoulders that goes down to their knees, and all are wearing wool leggings. All of the horses have beaded martingales, but one has a fur martingale with Eagle feathers on it. One horse has a cloth mask on that covers the face of the horse down its neck. The two women are in the second row the first one is wearing a wing dress and a scarf on her head she is in the middle of the photograph. The other one is moving and she is a blur she is moving to the right side of the photograph. In the background are four canvas tipis in and next to some cotton wood trees. Writing on the photograph is "Major Moorhouse Umatilla Reservation July 4 1903."
