Note
Purchased in Florence, Italy. Catherine de Medici (b. 1519 - d. 1589) created this style of embroidery using Buratto linen net and heavy weight white cotton tracery designs. She was an Italian noblewoman who was the Queen of France from 1547 to 1559. The technique was revived at the turn of the century. This might be c.1900.
