This painting depicts a group of orange and blue fruit that supports a halved apple and a small blue fish., Rene Rickabaugh; Harvest; U of O Science Complex II, Rene Rickabaugh, a Portland painter, studied at the Pacific Northwest College of Art and has taught watercolor there as well as at the University of Oregon. His work is noteworthy for meticulous execution and details, and an almost surrealistic personal vision. "Harvest" is a good example of the artist's favorite imagery. Description
The sections of this piece form a four-section grid. Starting in the upper left, an irregularly shaped black mark occupies the space of a white rectangle. Moving to the right, the upper right corner is a red square. Below it, in the lower right corner is another red square that contains a black apple with a screen pattern overlaid on top of it. Finally, in the lower left, a white rectanlgle bears an embossed, linear pattern., George Johanson; Apple and Curtain; intaglio; 1970; 22 x 26 inches framed, George Johanson attended and taught at the Museum Art School in Portland, Oregon.
