Description
A hand-colored photograph of a boat landing, used as a postcard with the heading "Boat Landing on Columbia River, Hood River, Oregon" in red at the top. In the background of the photograph on the far side of the river are low hills and trees.On the near side, a stern wheeler dominates the scene. To either side of it are a barge and another smaller steamboat; behind the barge is the tip of a sail. The landing is across from a small island.The sternwheeler appears to have just arrived; a small crowd is on the upper deck and a larger crowd on the lower. A man or boy sits on the edge of the lower deck with his legs hanging over the water. On the bank a crowd of about two dozen men and women and a couple of horses is gathered. The women wear long dresses. Some of the men are in suits and others in work clothes. To the left of the landing is a white wooden gate and a barbed-wire fence.

A colored postcard view of the Columbia River. In the top right-hand corner in red the text reads "Bridge of the Gods, Columbia River. On line of O. R. & N. Co." In the foreground of the picture is a rocky shore, and similar rocky islands are seen. Past them rush the foamy white-capped rapids of the river. Across the water, at the extreme left of the picture, is what appears to be a dwelling, with a fence or pilings driven in next to it along the water. In the middle of the far shore is a group of tipis. All along behind the shore is a dark row of forest trees, mostly conifers, but with some deciduous trees which are painted to indicate it is early fall, with orange and brown leaves amongst the green. Behind the strip of forest rise barren-looking mountains. O. R. & N. Co. stands for "Oregon Railway and Navigation Company".

A colored photographic postcard. At upper left the caption in red reads "Ocean-Going Log Raft on the Columbia River". The photo is dominated by the cigar-shaped "raft" of logs chained together. A length of chain is piled on top of them, along with some rope. The raft of logs appears to be floating next to a dock. In the distance on the water and near the shore are several other boats. Among the trees on the shore, there appears to be several large buildings. Far across the water are mountains.

A tinted photographic postcard. At the top in red is the legend "Cascade Locks, Columbia River". A steamship is shown going into the locks. Passengers or crew can be seen on its three decks; along both sides of the locks are small groups of men and women watching its passage. The water is calm; it is a dry sunny day with puffy clouds. A lawn stretches off to the left of the photograph. Across the river from the locks forested hills rise up.

A tinted photographic postcard. The caption at the top reads "Steamer Dalles City, D. P. & A. Nav. Co., in Cascade Locks, Columbia River." The paddlewheel of the Dalles City is clearly seen as the ship makes her way towards the lock. A few people are visible on the deck of the boat, and others are along both sides of the canal. A series of stairs follows the water. On the near side of the canal a beached rowboat is tied up, and the area is strewn with rocks. Beyond the locks is the roof of a building. In the distance are forested hills and mountains.

Description
A tinted photographic postcard. The legend in red at upper left reads "Lighthouse at junction of the Columbia and the Willamette Rivers." The lighthouse, which stands in the middle of the water, is a wooden structure with a metal roof. The wooden pilings and beams supporting the living quarters are built in a square, but the building itself is octagonal. On the lowest level is a fenced deck surrounding the building; the level above that features four tall gable windows, one looking to each of the four directions. At the top is a fenced widow's walk. On the left side of the building can be seen a lantern and a tall pole, perhaps a lightening rod. On the shore beyond the lighthouse are trees. The lighthouse was built near Kelly Point in 1895. In 1935 the lighthouse was electrified and no longer needed keepers to light the lantern or ring the fog bell. It was sold and moved during the 1940s and burned during the 1950s.

At the left of the photo, a steamboat can be seen, its smoke streaking out to the right. Across the river is a low line of deciduous trees colored with autumn's oranges and reds. Behind them rise mountains clothed with green trees. At the right of the photo behind the closest set of hills to the river can be seen Table Mountain. Its top is completely flat and it appears to be mostly treeless.

Colored image. Seen from above, the Pillars of Hercules rock formation faces the Columbia River. In the left foreground are winding train tracks identified as the "O. R. R. & Nav. Co. Road" that passes between the Pillars. There are four utility poles paralleling the tracks. Trees line the riverbank, which has been eroded by the flooded river. Rocks, trees and utility poles are partially submerged in the river. In the distance can be seen tree-covered slopes or hillsides.

A photographic postcard that has been hand-tinted. The legend in red at the top reads "Tonging for Toke Point Oysters, near mouth of the Columbia River". More than a dozen men are each standing a wooden boat. The boats are flattened in profile and ride low in the calm water. The central area of the boat is used to pile up the oysters, and the oystermen stand on a broad rim that runs around the edge. They hold long poles in their hands. These are the handles of tongs, long tools with rake-like ends that are opened when put into the water, scraped against the oysters, and closed to haul up the catch. The men are dressed in working clothes such as overalls and hats. In the background are several larger boats. On the horizon mountains are visible.

A color postcard view. The legend in red at the top left reads "Upper Columbia River Oregon". In the foreground are flowering plants and grasses on the top of a cliff. The wide river takes up most of the scene, bordered on each side by sparsely-treed cliffs and hills. In the distance on the left a low riverbank is lined with tall trees. On the right at the top of a table-flat bluff are two oddly-shaped objects that look like buildings. Below them in the river is a riverboat, with its steam or smoke plume trailing off to the left. The hills along the river narrow to a pass in the distance, and beyond them the water widens out again.
