Note
Francis Keally, associated with the firm Trowbridge and Livingston, was the principal designer of this building which was Oregon's third capitol building. The exterior features concrete, metalwork, and four different varieties of Vermont marble. The gilded sculpture, The Pioneer, by Ulric Ellerhusen, rests atop the dome. Supported by a 23 foot marble base, the 8.5 ton statue is made of cast bronze finished with 23 karat gold leaf.
