The 12,800 square foot Oakway Cinema opened on November 30, 1967 with one of the largest screens on the West Coast. It closed in the spring of 1987. The film Personal Best (Warner Brothers, 1982) premiered at Oakway Cinema on February 17, 1982, according to Bowerman and the Men of Oregon: the story of Oregon's legendary coach and Nike's cofounder, Rodale, 2006, p. 326.
