Welcome to the Northwest Folklife Digital Collection

This collection includes primary source materials documenting folklife and traditional arts and artists in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. The collections were created by professional folklorists and folklore students for The Archives of Northwest Folklore, 1966–present, and Oregon’s statewide folklife programs, the Oregon Folklife Program, 1979–2009, and the Oregon Folklife Network, 2012–present.

Collections document the traditional arts, customary beliefs, social practices, and material traits of cultural, religious, occupational, and ethnic groups in the region. All collection materials are indexed using the American Folklore Society’s Ethnographic Thesaurus.

Collections are available for non-profit, educational use.
