- Inscription
- This is a picture taken somewhere between 1851 and 1860, / at the Fielden McMurry pioneer home (later known as the / Chichester place as grandmother remarried after grandfather died in 1860). This view was taken from the S.E. corner / of the tract that later became the U of O campus. This / enclosure between the rail and board fences is where / the dormitory stands today. Across the land (now 13th st) enclosed by the rail and board fences is where Prof. / Collier many years later, built his home. / Notice the highest hill on the extreme right. The lands of the McMurry home extended over that hill, joining the Judkins lands on the east.
