A watercolor and acrylic painting presenting a rooftop vista. The view is positioned from the perspective of standing either behind or under colorful trees. White roofs abound. One lone red roof is in the background. Different types of chimney caps are visable. The vibrant tree and leaf colors of yellow, green, purple, blue and magenta in the foreground evoke an autumn sense., View to Margie and Don's; Bill Kucha; E.O.C.I.; 28 x 42 inches; watercolor and acrylic, http://www.kucha.com/, The Oregon Arts Commission has ten Regional Arts Councils that provide delivery of art services and information. An abstract acylic painting utilizing various brush strokes in multiple colors, mostly warm toned colors, with cool colors near the bottom of the piece. The only defined object seems to be a blue teacup with a handle on top of a black abstract object., Barbara Black; acrylic on canvas; 30x30 inches; ritual vessel with instructions, I am drawn to painting to try to make discoveries about the reconcilliation of opposities on a variety of levels: representation and abstraction; light and dark; matter and spirit, etc. At present elements such as vessels, cloth, water, islands interest me for their metaphorical possibilities when placed in a context of a more abstract expressionist emphasis of surface, color and gesture. My works frequently contain a rather precisely painted image (still life or landscape) placed in surroundings that become more abstract, as if the images had coalesced out of the matrix of color and brushwork. This juxtaposition calls attention to the way in which the brushstrokes, so full of their own identity and movement in the more abstract passages, can cohere and combine to call up an image or specific presensce, creating a precarious balance between these two functions of the paint. This painting is divided into three sections. The foreground is comprised of a red rectangular form that enters the picture plane from the lower right-hand corner, and it contains several enigmatic items. The middleground is composed of a section of alternating light and dark stripes, reminiscent of strip-farmed land, and it contains what appears to be a floral form and a pair of scissors. The background is divided into left and right by two sections of red and blue alternating stripes, separated in the middle by a black abyss., George Johanson; Striped Table Mountain; oil 1982; 60x51 inches, George Johanson attended and taught at the Museum Art School in Portland, Oregon.
