Hughey, an artist of diversified mediums, entered photography in 1970 under the direction of Michael P. Smith in New Orleans following an academic study as a painter/sculptor. After leaving New Orleans in 1973 and moving to Denver, he began involvement in the field of commercial photography. In 1977, John returned to the field of fine art. He moved to the Northwest in 1980, settling in Seattle. In the early 1980's he developed an interest in letterform and pursued penwork and related arts. In 1988 John devoted time to a comprehensive study under the calligrapher Reggie Ezell from Chicago. In 1989 he was awarded the title Certified Picture Framer (CPF) as recognized by the Professional Picture Framers of America., The Oregon Arts Commission has ten Regional Arts Councils that provide delivery of art services and information. A scene from the interior of a boat warehouse that depicts three different boats stored within the space, executed in a fairly realistic color palette., Boat House at Fresh Breeze; Tom Fawkes; State Capitol, A well-known Portland artist, Tom Fawkes, renders beautifully detailed photorealist landscape paintings and constructions in acrylic., watercolor and pastel. Through the use of Trompe L'Oeil painted shadows and constructed elements, Fawkes is able to translate the light, space and atmosphere of an environment in a way that is immediate and involving. Fawkes shows his work regularly in Seattle and Portland as well as numerous invitational exhibitions nationally. Public collections include: Safeco Corp., Seattle, Kaiser Foundation, Portland, Western Bank Corporation, Los Angeles, Seattle Art Museum, Portland Art Museum and the Phillip Morris Collection at Oregon Freeze Dry, Albany, Oregon. Tom Fawke's most recent work will reflect his continuing fascination with the Italian landscape and gardens. This interest was fostered after receiving the Rockefeller Foundation Grant in 1987 in which Fawkes was artist-in-residence at the Foundation Center in Bellagio, Italy. Description

A blue sky with white clouds hovers above the water in the background., Cie Goulet; Moon Boat II; 243; monotype; 22x30 inches; ohsu movable, Cie Goulet is well known for her energetic paintings of the Oregon landscape. Her dramatic color and light is further enhanced by the use of black as a base color (monotypes on black paper). Cie Goulet attended San Francisco Art Institute, Parsons School of Design and graduated from the University of Oregon in 1965, where she studied under the late Jack Wilkinson. In the last twenty years the artist has exhibited in various areas of the U.S. including: Tamasulo Gallery, Cranford, NJ; Louis Meisel Gallery, NY; Artists Space, NY as well as one person exhibitions at Lynn McAllister Gallery, Seattle, WA; Salishan Lodge, Gen Eden, OR; River Run Gallery, Ketchum, ID and the Laura Russo Gallery, Portland, OR. Cie Goulet exhibited her work in the exhibition "First Impressions: Northwest Monotypes" at the Seattle Art Museum, WA which then traveled to the Marylhurst College, Art Gym Gallery.
